Siluanov: Russia to try to redeem Eurobonds in issuance currencies

MOSCOW, Mar 11 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Finance Ministry will try to redeem Eurobonds in their issuance currencies, but it will require the foreign currency accounts of the central bank and the government to be unfrozen, Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters late on Thursday.

“We will first issue all the necessary payment orders to agents in our deals in accordance with the issuance documentation in order to carry out payments in foreign currencies. It will be possible only if the foreign currency accounts of the central bank and he government are unfrozen,” he said.

The ministry will carry out payments in rubles if the agent banks refuse to settle payments in foreign currencies, Siluanov added.

“If we receive a refusal or receive no answer from the agent banks, we will redeem and service our liabilities in rubles. In any case, the liabilities to our investors will be fulfilled,” he said.
